OUR EXPERIENCE, 2011
Led by Diana Gilon at Boston University Hillel, Mixed Media on Canvas 12ft 10” x 6ft 4”
This 12ft 10” x 6ft 4” canvas, scroll was completed in March 2011 at Boston University Hillel. It is hung on the outside of the Hillel’s chapel wall on the fourth floor. This piece was created by students of both Boston University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and depicts their experiences while they were visiting Israel.
The students' photographs were the initial inspiration for the painting. The students, together with Diana, explored each other’s images through an online account and found common themes that they wanted to express in the final version. The trees on the left and right sides of the painting, and on the gate section, consist of a collage of hundreds of the students’ actual photographs taken in Israel. Some of the significant themes expressed throughout the painting are History, Love, Family, Tradition and Faith.
